The Technical Ammonia Nitrate (TAN) plant, developed in joint venture by Orica Limited and Yara International ASA, has a capacity to produce 330,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate (AN) per annum. Ammonium nitrate is the main component of explosives used in the mining, quarrying and construction industries.

Whittens was engaged to execute the concrete civils component of the plant, consisting principally of the ISBL and OSBL pipe rack foundations, wet and dry processing structures, storage facilities and protection structures. The scope of work awarded to Whittens totalled some 18,000m3 of concrete.
