Our Approach

Our Vision is to create robust, pragmatic and well-understood and implemented health, safety, quality and environmental strategies to guide and assist our people in maintaining a safe workplace for each and every employee, subcontractor, client, supplier and visitor.

Our “Keeping our mates safe” program reflects our commitment to ensuring staff get home safely, every day, and is at the heart of everything we do. It’s embedded in our safety policies and procedures, communications, onsite practices, training and the way we engage with clients on each and every project.

Safety

We actively empower and encourage employees to have a “hands on” role in managing the safety and welfare of both themselves and the people they work with, in and out of the workplace.

To do this, we:

  • Provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and illnesses
  • Eliminate hazards and reduce risks to our workers
  • Involve, empower, communicate and consult with workers in identifying workplace hazards and implementing safety improvements and interventions
  • Investigate all incidents and implement preventive actions to minimise the risk of reoccurrence and maintain continual improvements
  • Communicate our Health and Safety policy to all employees and other interested parties

We are committed to complying with relevant Work Health and Safety Legislation and other obligations, including ISO 45001.
ISO 45001 provides a robust framework for managing OHS risks and opportunities, providing a safe and healthy workplace and protecting personnel

Our team of experienced, qualified professionals are dedicated to producing the best solutions for our client’s needs.

Whittens is committed to ensuring all activities are performed in a systematic and controlled manner, and our systems and infrastructure are aligned with ISO 9001.

ISO 9001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system. Organisations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Environment

Whittens is committed to conducting operations and activities in a manner that is environmentally responsible.

All employees, contractors and others working for, or on behalf, of Whittens, must comply with applicable environmental legislation and other requirements, and manage all projects in a manner that minimises the impact of our operations on the environment.

We are proud to be certified in ISO 14001 – the world’s most recognised environmental management standard.

ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system and maps out a framework for effective environmental management systems.

It assures our staff and clients that our environmental impact is being measured and improved.
